English Language Skills - Accepted Certificates
University applicants to programs taught in English (such as the bilingual program Cultural and Social Studies) are required to provide proof that they have sufficient knowledge in English on the B2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) before the start of the program as an admission prerequisite.
The proficiency in English is verified by means of a corresponding certificate.
- TOEFL (IBT not ITP) not less than 80 points
- C1 Advanced,
formerly known as Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) - Grade A
- C2 Proficiency,
formerly known as Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE) - Grade C
- IELTS (IELTS for Study): not less than 6.5
- Certificate UNIcert II
The following certificates are not accepted:
- Credits from school (incl. "Abitur")
- Cambridge First Certificate
If you have a plausible reason that prevents you from providing the required evidence, please get in touch with the course coordinator.
A certificate of the required language knowledge must at the latest be presented at the time of enrollment in the original. If you cannot submit the certificate with the specified passing grade at the deadline, you cannot be enrolled in the program.
In order to meet the deadline, we urgently recommend that you pursue the appropriate language certificate in a timely fashion.
