The module group "Domestic Taxation" imparts to students the relevant skills necessary for an occupation in tax advising as well as in corporations’ accounting and tax departments. Students acquire the qualifications in order to independently ascertain the tax burden accrued from business transactions, to depict it in a tax balance sheet and to be able to assess the effects of taxes on operation decision-making processes. In this module group, students receive detailed instruction in the following areas: revenue taxation in Germany, with a focus on corporations (business taxation); knowledge of how to depict business transactions in the tax balance sheet, both in theory (tax accounting) and in practice (DATEV applications); and based on a comprehensive and practical case study (FACTs), relationships between taxes, accounting and financing are analyzed. Further individual specialization can be gained by extending one’s focus and comparing accounting, sales taxation and/or corporate taxation practices across Europe.
Work projects, presentations and role play are made use of in the module group in order to impart to students the necessary social skills, especially teamwork skills, leadership skills and a solid presentation style, that a future career in consulting demands. The professorships participating in the module group work together with renowned German and Polish tax consultancy firms. In this way, the practical relevance of the subject matter is guaranteed, the likelihood of good job market opportunities is considerably increased, but the amount of work involved is also increased!
